The Mission of SMA is to improve the stability, knowledge and stability of families, young people, and communities through social services, mentoring and advocacy. SMA opened its doors in 2000 to help organize neighborhood associations in the urban communities of South Memphis. Over time we’ve expanded our services to serve youth in foster care and families in need. Despite our growth, we hold fast to our core belief that civic engagement is the bedrock of strong communities, and that strong communities, promote strong families.
This center provides mothers with baby supplies and supportive services. From diapers to cribs The Mother Center distributes over $50,000 in needed baby supplies each year.
The Center is also used as a clothes closet for our participants.
SMA Laundromat & Resource Center is in fact a resouce center for the community that operates a laundromat.
